We use a 730 Case Rowcrop diesel to load hay using a 3pth hi lift spear. This will lift about two bales high. The bales are by a John Deere baler and might weigh 1700 lbs as baled. We had no problem as baled moving them out of the field to a hay lot. They are uncovered and we tried to move some several weeks ago to another pasture so we were loading on a trailer. The tractor could not pick them up using the hi lift spear. Apparently an overload valve was opening due to the wet weight of the hay. Would the hydraulics work better is we have a good frontend loader on the tractor? I realize the pump would still be pumping a certain output, but I was trying to determine if a different arrangment of cylindars on a loader might be more powerful (with the same pump pressure )than the lift cylindar on the 3 pth. Any comments would be appreciated.
