FIRST, decide how much you want to spend. This may be influenced by the value of the tractor in its current condition vs. future condition. Or you may just want a good looking/working tractor--fix this one resale be damned! Or you may want a show-winning re$toration project. SECOND, figure out what needs to be done to fit your purpose as defined above. This will tell you if you have enough to spend. THIRD, save up the money-if your tractor fund isn't full. Nothing worse than a tractor all apart and no dollars to go in. And credit is a stupid way to live. Also plan for the estimated spending to be off +/- 20% or so, for whatever reason. Once you have the plan and the money, it'll go pretty smooth.
