On the Cub tractors with Delco alternator as factory equipment, IH used a 25 ohm resistor, part # 107 588 C1 instead of a lamp or diode. Some of the indicator lamps used by GM had operating resistances of as much as 53 ohms, so anything between 25 and 53 will be satisfactory. The resistor is not polarity sensitive as is the diode and less prone to burnout than the lamp. I use 44 ohm, 5 watt wirewound resistor from electronics supply house.
