Doug, Not exactly a Southerner unless southern Manitoba counts. Some years ago we acquired a mare born and raised locally, summers outside, winters in heated barn. Her first winter here (outside) she grew an inadequate winter coat and suffered so that we had to blanket her.In the many winters which followed she grew a heavy coat and we never saw her shiver again.
