That is correct! The Amish can't use an electric heater in their homes, as there is no electric connection to the normal power grid. I once went to a friends farm for a sausage making day. There were two Amish men there to do the hog killings, and make the sausage. they hauled in a large meat grinder powered by a single cylinder gasoline, or maybe diesel powered engine, and they used that to grind up the meat. Those so-called Amish heaater ads, show that heater without a wire and plug, in the advertising. It is a form of misleading advertising, and gullible folks fall for it. The first ads, a few years back, implied that you could use those heaters with no electricity, just roll it from room to room, and let it heat it up. The picture of the dancing flames on the front fooled some folks. This year, in the latest advertising, (today's Sunday paper) show how it heats, how much current it uses, how much it will cost to run it, and really shows just how folks got taken in years passed. Like old P.T.Barnum said---Oh, i'm sure you folks know what he said about a sucker being born every minute----?

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
