I had the same problem, wasted a lot of time and gas mowing with my Ferguson TEA and a brush hog, then I found a local farmer with a big cattle operation who was happy to use the land. Now he cuts the hay off of it every summer and I don't have to bother mowing the field. Ask some of the farmers in your area, you may be able to find someone who is interested in using your field. For around the pond use a sicklebar mower. I have tried it with a brush hog and it is difficult and time consuming.
