yes they do do this at time drop items off at postoffice to be delivered,not uncommon at all but not to frequent,as far as po not putting in the box that a call for the post master or carrier as to wether to leave or not,here we usually hang it on side of box or puti it between the doors of home,better yet if you do this on regular basis let your po carrier now you have a box by shed or someplace we can leave pkgs that don"t fit in box. main reason they don"t get left outside your box is dogs. would you been happy if you found it on front step torn up or in the backyrd next spring. that you have to see both sides.rural carrier here almost 20years
