Jay, I'm not endorsing those heaters, but we have an elderly lady in our church who bought a so-called "Amish" heater. I helped her unpack it, and the wooden "mantel" (if that's what you call it) is solid oak. I'm not disputing Railhead - maybe this heater came from another source than the one he was talking about. She now has two of them, one on each side of her easy chair. She's sharp enough to know that they'll only cut her heat bill if she drags them around the house with her. What worries me about them - I'm sure she plugs them into the same recepticle. . . I warned her of the dangers - she lives by herself, and I can't follow her around all day long.
Another guy has two of them. He was bragging about how much money he was saving, but Saturday he got his electric bill - $374. I have told him - if you save a little bit with just one, why don't you buy a whole bunch of them and save a lot. Maybe you'd reach a point where you could heat your home for free. If looks could kill. . .
