wipe/wash the parts down real good with white vinegar. Then spray a coat of primier on all parts after primer drys sand lightly then paint what ever color you wish. When painting I use what they call a tack coat (light spray ) which I let dry somewhat then spay on a heavey coat and let dry. After paint is dry I apply decals and put a clear coat over everything :o) just my two cents someone may have a better way but it has worked for my over the years many times on trucks and tractors :o)
