If any one of us had our hometown destroyed by a tornado how many would want immediate help? Everyone of us would need our children taken care of, with clothes/food/shelter. Maybe a distant relative would watch your kid(s) while you picked through the rubble of what was your house. You also need to quit work for a week or 2 or 3 while you dealt with the aftermath. When my mom was 17 years old her parents house burned, only half of it but my grandparents and all 4 kids (my mom) included couldnt live there until all the smoke was cleaned up and the clothes were all washed etc, etc. My grandfather went to a department store with the whole family and said: "our house is burned up and I need clothes for 4 kids" The manager helped him out right then. That was in 1960.
