Guys, I have a 1950 John Deere MT. I just purchased this tractor recently. I have been running it around and everything seems to work alright. I did ask you all for advice on the alternator and you were of great help. Works fine now. Thanks to all those who helped. Now, I have replaced the temp guage. I drive it around and pull a couple hills in 4 gear and it gets up to just a little over 210 degrees. I hooked up my flail mower the other day and run it and it went to 230, and I could see steam coming out of the vent of the radiator cap. It was only about 38 to 40 degrees outside. That was not alarming. The temp guage reading was however. I am not use to the thermosyphen cooling system. When the temp guage is at 130 the bottom return hose to the engine is at (or very near) the outside air temp. Is this normal? Or should I be checking to see if the radiator is plugged. After shutting off the mower and taking the load off the tractor it cooled down to about 200 rather rapidly. Thanks again for any and all help. Bill McKinney
