John A. I certainly am not doubting the numbers you saw the machines go for and we all know collectors will flash what it takes to get what they want to complete their collection. I just discussed this very thing with an old school classmate of mine that is somewhat a major player although I think a smalltimer compared to the car auctions I"ve seen on TV. The one thing he said that I thoroughly believe is the buyer will always know who did the restoration and their integrity along with the auction house before they even think about bidding. Showroom quality means a lot of different things to alot of people to me showroom is everything from no elongated holes in the drawbar to new and correct front wheel bearings, no rust pits and correct paint and many many other items. That"s all I"m saying. I don"t know and haven"t heard of the auction house that was mentioned but it doesn"t bode well with some of the negative comments I"ve seen here about them so there needs to be some fence mending if true on their part.BTW, there was an SMTA gas narrow front advertised on photo ads as showroom quality with as stated several coats of lacquer clear coat (wrong answer)asking $12000 I don"t know if they got that or not. The point I"m making is if it was showroom then that was a bargain if not it was just another tractor with a nice paint job and new tires pretty much the same as $9700 unless the torque is bad.
