Plow days can be fun. I started one in '07 with 8 tractors. Then 17 in '08, then 35 in '09. Might have over 50 for this yr.
Total of 175 showed up to watch last yr. Local 4-H club served the food and drinks and made over $400.00.
Rented 2 porta potties. Had 2 tractors pulling people movers and we'll need 3-4 for this yr.
We let in only tractors made in 1959 or before; no big modern stuff allowed. Some tractors with steel wheels show up.
All motors shut off at noon so kids from 8 t0 80 can look, touch and talk about all the old iron.
A flying farmer flew overhead and a passenger took pics. Local camera guy made a 28 minute video of whole thing; we have sold over 70 DVDs so far at $10.00 each and donated it to local food pantries.
We don't allow any hotrodding, fender riding or hitch riding. I make sure we run a tight ship so no one gets hurt, least of all a spectator.
Cardinal rule is to have FUN with old iron. We have drivers from 18 to 80; some kids driving grandpa's old tractor and that makes it special.
This event always makes the front page of our local newspaper (with a nice picture). It's the talk of the area. LA in WI
