I have a JD 520 that runs good and I would like to change all the fluids in this tractor so I do not burn something up. First I need to know what type of fluid is needed for each system and how to check all the fluid levels. I do have an IT manual for this tractor but this information is not included. They do mention capacities like 4 1/2 gallons for the cooling system,7 quarts crankcase oil, 16 quarts for transmission and differential, 4 quarts for thr powershaft clutch (what is this?, 10 quarts for the powr-trol (what is this?), 1 quart for the first reduction gear cover, and 5 quarts for the power steering. There is no directions on how to check these levels. I am confused. I thought the power steering fluid was supplied by the transmission. Where is the power steering reservoir? Is the first reduction gear oil included in the engine oil or transmission fluid? There is no mention of the oil capacity of the final drive. I need to knowhow to check each reservoir and what type of fluid to use.
