I have been obliged to buy a membership for the privelege of camping overnight, not for displaying. However, I have heard of clubs that require you to both join and then pay a hook fee if you want to pull. Also, if there is a judged competion, then I could see an entrance fee. I do get to hear a awful LOT of crap from small engine guys because the clubs often pay to haul in steam traction engines, kero tractors and such large or rare exhibits(they say its then only fair that they be reimbursed for their gasoline to drive over with their maytag). If the club expects me to pay some trucker $2 a mile to move my steamer, it will stay home, but would I pay a nominal fee for the privelege to show something I can haul? A LOT depends on the show itself, it would have to be VERY good, and have GREAT security.
