A few years ago, over there in South Bend, there was an elderly fella, in his 80's as I recall, lived in a pretty bad neighborhood. Wasn't bad when he and his wife bought it and raised their children in it. Might've been going down hill when his partner and wife passed away. It was their home though, so he stayed on. Somehow, a fella in the neighborhood took a disliking to him and began causing trouble for him, going out of his way to pick on the old fella and cause property damage and the like. Enough was enough, the cops started getting called out, and on one occasion, the preditor went to jail, vowing to get even with the old fella when he got out of jail. Warm day, the old fella was sitting on his porch, the preditor got out of jail and kept his promise, came right up the street and after the old fella. The old fella went into the house, locked and bolted the door, and the preditor began trying to kick the door in. The old fella had a handgun, and kept shouting that he had a gun and would shoot if the preditor came in. That didn't stop the preditor from kicking the door in and charging the old fella across his living room, in his own home. The old fella shot and killed the preditor right there on the floor. The old fella was cleared, it was done in self defense, so no charges. Now get this. The South Bend cops took up a collection amongst themselves, bought him a new door, and even replaced it. Nice guys, I'm proud of them.
I too have a mother that I love dearly, and she knows how to shoot, as do my sisters, and even my blind brother by sound. I take them all out to practice quarterly.
