In reply to rough adjustment of chainsaw carberators... I'd start with one half turn and try a few pulls. If no action, try another 1/4 turn and pull some more. You'll probably get it before your arm wears out. This is with the choke set full. What you're looking for is a first burp. After that, go to 1/2 choke and try to start it. Once you get it going, keep the throtle at full open. Adjust the high speed jet for "best sound" then turn it a little more rich. Keeping your saw a little rich will help it burn cooler. I do this "fine tuning" every time I change my gas/oil mix and as the weather changes. After you get the high speed jet right, let off the trigger and adjust the low speed jet. The saw will probably try to die at first but you can go back to full throtle to recover and then try idle until you get the low speed jet right. Again, you are going for a "sounds right" adjustment. I know guys who use a tach to precisely adjust their saws but "by ear" works for me.
