In the world of JD, the 5M is the high rent district. 5E or 5E Limited is mid-spec, and the 5D series is bargain basement. My advice, you don't want a JD 5 cylinder engine(non-sleeve, bored-in-block motor), like in the 5065M. They are built cheaply. Stick with the tried and true 4045 4cyl. motor(wet sleeve). If you are in cold climates, they offer air intake heaters and/or coolant heater to assist with starting. The smallest tractor to my knowledge with 1000 pto available is the 5083E Limited. They have cab, 4WD, wet clutch, hyd. reverser, heat, AC, and 4 cyl. motor standard. Absolutely the best bang for the buck from Deere these days. The 5M is way expensive, and the 5D's are built like something from the stone age. Disclaimer: I work for a dealer, but as a mechanic, not a salesmen, I'm relating in-field experience here.
