The owner's manual states: use SAE30 above 50 deg.F; SAE20 20-50deg.F; SAE10 -10 to 10deg.F. I know an old mechanic who used to work at the H. Ferguson dealer here,and he told me not to use detergent oil in my TO30 as it would slowly deteriorate the seals. When I asked about sludge, he said "change the oil each 100 hrs., but at least 2x a year to keep the moisture out". He must know, for my TO30 has not been overhauled yet in 48 years. For me my oil still looks fairly clean at the twice yearly change. Non-detergent oil is available from a local wholesale distributer here.
