I've got to do a rebuild on the right front wheel on my D19. The bearings, hub and spindle. Here's the problem. The retaining pin at the top of the spindle is missing. The top of the spindle is flush with the top of the spindle arm. It isn't slipping around or anything. How do you think I ought to proceed with removal? Should I attempt to drive the spindle arm down to where it ought to be hoping to loosen things up? Or should I try going the other direction first? I've only made the briefest attempt to work on this. This is my hay feeding/loader tractor, so I might not be able to complete this immediately if it has to be laid up for a while.
A couple of other questions. Do you think I could find a replacement retaining clip at an auto parts store? Also, if the woodruff key is shot when I get this separated, where do you think I could get another one?
