The reason I like this site and a lot of the OT stuff (even about politics) is that where else can you go and hear the thoughts and comments from REAL people? Not the talking heads on TV or the politicians who purport to speak for the "little guy" or the "working man". There are regulars on here from Coast to Coast, Canada (particularly fond of RodinNS) and even Dave2 in Germany. It's interesting to hear their opinions on how they handle tractor dealers, starting tractors on cold morning or what they think of the world today. The economy, what our politicians do, etc. affects ALL of us in one way or another. Lots of good common sense in this community. I wish our "leaders" in government would read these threads.
I agree that threads that degrade into name calling or "so's your mother" kind of stuff doesn't belong, but insightful comments on what people think of Global Warming, the Stimulus, etc. I think are perfectly legit. And if I see an OT topic that rubs me the wrong way, I just ignore it.
Anyway, I hope the moderators lighten up a little and at least let some of the OT threads linger a little longer until I get a chance to read them. I do think that they should eventually be "poofed" so that they don't clog up the archives with a lot of stuff that isn't worth searching through.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
