Don Your WI University did a study on dairy profitabilty a few years ago. I believe they found a seasonal grass based sytem was as good as any. I'm sure you could google it up. One of the profs at Penn State came up with system to graze 300 days here in PA. You can't get out of the tillage game because of the need for a forage chain.
