The lower bushing wallows out the hole in housing. CaseIH has a package with a replacement bushing adaptor. I always took the entire transfer case out and took it to the machine shop to have them machine it out for that adaptor. IH originally had OTC supply a tool to bore it out on the tractor, it didn't work well for me so never tried it again. You may already have that package installed and could just replace it and the pivot bushings. I always had the factory recommended stand to split so it was not a problem.
