I bought a 1940 farmall H that I thought I would try to restore. Once I got it home and started taking the engine apart I learned that the engine was beyond rebuilding. It was rusted so bad that the head had to be heated and pounded on just to get it off. It cracked in the process. I like to have matching serial numbers (serial # plate, frame, and engine) on all my restoration projects. I had to make the tough decision not to rebuild this unussual unit. It was an el-cheapo ordered tractor from the dealer. It was on steel wheel's all the way around. Caste iron fronts, and flat iron spoked skelleton rears. The tractor didn't have hydraulics, belt pulley, or pto shaft. However it did have originnal IHC stamped cover plates to cover all the holes. Maybe some day I will find another 1940 H to restore and add these features to it. My question is is a tractor with odd features such as these worth any more than the mass produced well equipped trators with all the options. I would also like to know if these original cover plates and steel wheel's hold any value as individual parts. I have seen and worked on numerous H farmalls but never seen these cover plates before. I have only seen one other H on complete steel and that was in a magazine although I have seen a couple H's on cut down rear steel with rims and and tires added. I would appriciate informational follow up comments. Thanks

My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
