My grandmother's 68 belair had that cable, just thought the local repair shop did that for a fix with the motor mount, she had a 307 and 3 speed on the tree, sure had some zip, though if you shifted down into 2nd at to high a rpm you'd split the muffler everytime. Didn't know this and felt pretty bad and told her, she told me what I did wrong and she didn't make me pay for it, since she forgot to remind me about it. chris

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
