Hi John, Provided we're talking about solid, non-metallic colors, the most durable paint Dupont makes is the original single stage Imron. It is also by far the most expensive. The exceptionally high gloss of this paint will emphasize the roughness of the castings. The base-coat/clear coat systems are fast drying and relatively forgiving(good if you don't have a spray booth). However, I've found the clearcoat doesn't seem to tolerate spot wear as well as Imron or Centari/hardener. Centari with hardener approaches the virtues of Imron at a lower cost, and most people find it a little easier to use. Any one of these products can give you a durable high quality finish, so it's really a matter of choosing between the advantages and disadvantages of each. Good luck...Al English
