I assume you are talking about fan belt. If it is your fan belt sliding back it may be from not having the right belt but more likely than not the bearings in your upper pulley have just enough slack to create just enough angle for the belt to slide back. Take your belt off and you should be able to fill even the slightist play. I have a tractor that does the same thing but in my case it is because the fastening arm system for the fan belt has worn points creating the spindle for the pulley to be out of line. you may check for that also. More than likely your pulley on the cranke is alright unless your engine bearings are really bad. If you are talking about your belt pulley for equipment your problem is more than likely tractor placement.
