You may recall I had the same thing happen a couple months ago- burned the entire cab. It was outside, about 6 feet from the end of the house- luckily the wind was blowing away from the house, so no damage. Happened at midnight, luckily the only neighbor still awake had seen the fire out of the corner of his eye as he was on his way to bed.
Ours was a '95 diesel, and they sent a recall notice on the cruise control disengagement switch the same day it burned. Ours could also have been a short in the block heater, as it was plugged in at the time. It was so thoroughly burned the investigator couldn't figure out where fire started.
We put $2,500 with the $7,000 insurance settlement, and bought a '99 F350 quad-cab 4x4 diesel last weekend.
