I see your point, Rod! I still want to explore Fred's idea a little further, though. If you look at the above picture, you can see what I gather must be the transfercase coming out of the rear axle housing.
On my 674 there is an inspection plate that goes directly into the gears. I wonder whether the transfer case from the 585 would fit on my 674..?I guess not, but just to make sure: Fred, how is the transfer box mounted on the 585? Is it separate from the rest of the tractor body?
