Are you kidding? The older systems that were vacuum operated have no way of detecting wheel slippage. Using the cruise control on slippery roads is just plain stupid. Wreck your car or run in the ditch, you end up paying stupid tax to the tow truck operator. Newer cars can detect a drive wheel slipping, but it's usually too late to prevent loss of control.
