I sat in the Little House restaurant in Mansfield Mo one day listening to an old boy claiming he had a cow down for 6 months. Had'ta laugh,but his wife backed him up on it. Don't know what a cow like that would ever be worth after she got up. Personally,I had one down for 9 days 2 years ago. First calf heifer with a pinched nerve from calving. When she did get up she walked on the front of her ankles for a month. She bred right back and is great now. On the other hand,we shot 3 holsteins one day that were all lined up side by side. You just never know.
