My father collects 'em. He got 3 at farm sales, never paid more than $35, sometimes with blades! (They usually needed the bearings adjusted or replaced, and repairs to the frame.) Once you try making cordwood with one of these versus a chainsaw, you'll never go back. And your chainsaw will last about 10 times longer! The way we handle the safety problem is by using 2 men. One guy feeds in logs from one side, and never gets within 2 feet of the blade. The other guy picks them up and stacks them. An old piece of plyboard cut down to about 4x5' stands vertically on the blade side, staked to the ground with L shaped brackets. That way if the stacker slips, he can't fall into the blade. By the way, Ain't that bad- they only do 75 on the icy interstates around you? Here they do at least 90, except of course for the semis', which have to be measured with a warp meter ;o>. I seriously believe people think there are 2 positions on their throttle, idle and full.
