I'm enjoying the heck out of this. You are trying to catch an animal that has the intelligence of a small monkey. Coons are one of the smartest of animals. They can open simple locks and remember a combination of moves to open something. Be careful because they will attack if pushed to far. I imagine the fact that you shot at them will keep them away. I have heard of them eating cats. Post a picture if you do catch one.
