Used to help my father cut cord wood w/ one of these. He had it powered by a "L" gravely. My Dad did the cuttin' and I would throw the cut pieces into the wood shed. That big blade was more than a bit scary, but I think a little bit of fear is what keeps you safe. The key is to use it w/ good safety habits. NEVER get yourself in line w/ the blade. Never feed too fast. Never work when you are tired. This is not a time for a beer party.One big advantage is these things will cut a LOT of wood in a short time. Are they dangerous? Shure, so is any tractor. Chainsaws? now there is a nasty machine. Ever see the results of a chainsaw "accident"? They don't cut flesh, they hog it out, chew it up and spit it out.
