File this one in the believe it or not folder. The first field I ploughed when we bought the farm was about 5-6 acres and had been full of hardtack and small alders. It made ploughing this rolling ground difficult for a novice, so I inlisted a friend to come up with his team to help and give advice. Kevin was on a call-crew at work and carried a cell phone. Needless to say the phone got ploughed under and the afternoon was spent dialing the phone number in a futile hunt. Two weeks went by, several wet snows, many passes with the disks and the field was just about ready for seed, except for a small hump where the plows kept comming out of the ground. I hooked back onto the ploughs and proceeded to turn that small area over once again. I heard the colter make a funny noise, looked back and there was the cell phone. The colter had put a deep scratch in the display, but after recharging the phone worked like a charm. Cell phones would make a great cash crop, but the take for ever to germinate.
