It has become obvious that I'm not the only person that has moisture collecting inside their hyd system. I think there are 2 reasons that old tractors have this problem. #1. The oil temps don't get warm enough. My backhoe has no problems with moisture. When I run it, you can touch the hyd cylinders and notice how hot they get. #2. No air vent on the Jubilee. My backhoe has an air vent on top. I want to find a material that will absorb the moisture inside the hyd and transfer it to the outside to dry. Scientists call this process capillary action. I also want to use the existing fill plug hole to do this. Once I find the best material that will absorb and transfer moisture, I'll put an umbrella over it to keep the rain off it. This vent must also be able to keep the dust and dirt out. The last thing I want to do is put an additive in the oil to suspend the water in the oil. Perhaps I should have better defined the problem and my goals. Other people think the solution is to change the oil. My oil is only 6 mo old, so the oil is not the problem. Condensation is my problem and making a vent is the only solution.
