Hey Larry -
One option on that shell. Maybe from Aberdeen Proving Grounds. I worked in S. MD for about 5 yrs. as a DOD Beltway Bandit. I lived south of Lexington Park. For kicks we would go down to Aberdeen to watch nite firing exercises with dummy rounds (USN & Army) across the Chesapeake.

I know of some large brass shells being "saved" as mementos.
