Another way that wouldn't require any weld cutting or board bolting would be to measure the distance from the front of the lip on the end of the trailer to the back of the lip on the front of the trailer. Then cut the board that length. This would allow you to push one end of the board all the way under the lip at the front of the trailer and slip the other end of the board past the lip at the rear of the trailer. Then you can move the board a little bit toward the rear of the trailer, just so that both ends of the board are still under their respective lips. The ends of the new board will then only be half way under the lip on both ends, but you will not be able to tell the difference anyway. This way, there will not have to be any weld cutting or board splicing at all.
