I'm considering some concrete work & have more questions than you... But here is what I have 'heard' in the past year: Sounds like at least 5" is the way to go, while 4" might get you by, skimping now makes you swear later.... Some people do NOT like the fiberglass if you plan on using this for a shop - lay on the concrete & get glass slivers. Rebar is better than mesh, but better to have either than to just rely on the fibers, they don't hold it for serious cracking & settling. You might only want concrete on 1/2 the building to begin with? If you are putting hay on the concrete, you might want a vapor barrior down first - concrete will draw water up through it & spoil the hay. Plastic is cheap now, cussing lasts for 25 years.... And, nothing to do with concrete, but consider the dangers of storing hay & machinery in the same building. Sparks & heat from the tractors can ignite that hay pretty quickly, and wet hay can spontaniously combust & burn down your machinery.... You didn't say you were going to have shop tools in here, but things like grinders, welders, torches, and hay do NOT mix in the same building. :) Thanks for asking, I'm learning from the relpies you are getting. :) --->Paul

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
