Hope you don't mind a green tractor in here among the red ones! I have a 1955 JD 50 LP, when I was in my early teens we had a similar tractor only without the power steering, we also had a JD 720LP and an M Farmall also on propane. I put a lot of miles on that M, I enjoyed pulling the 7-shank chisel plow and watching the tricycle front end bob up and down. For a kid, the 720 and the M were BIG tractors. Don't tell my father and uncle about the times I froze cokes with the propane while I was filling up the tractors! One nice thing about propane that you guys didn't mention is that the engines are not only cleaner, but they last longer. The propane doesn't wash the oil off the cylinder walls like gasoline does so the rings last a long time and when you overhaul it you won't have much of a ridge at the top of the cylinder. They are a little tricky to fill sometimes but once you get the hang of it they're no real trouble as long as you're careful. I won't park a propane tractor inside a closed barn or garage, an open shed it fine to keep it out of the weather and avoid the possibilities of a gas leak. Mine starts in the coldest weather (granted, it is east Texas!) by just hitting the primer button for a second. It starts best at idle. Enjoy the old Farmall, I just came in from working my old JD 50 a little bit with my new home-made 3-point hitch. Just watch out for all the flies and bees when you refill the tank! Kerry

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
