I mentioned in a post about having a set of old JD plows and you're right about turning over sod if you plow too deep with them. They do OK if you don't plow so deep. You can also add mold board extentions and then they do a nice job of turning sod. I've seen a number of old plows that wouldn't do a good job of turning sod if you plowed deep without mold board extentions.
