All these guys are right. Back in the olden days lead was added to gasoline to prevent damage to the new higher compression engines, as the story goes. Then the lead was removed to reduce air pollution and a different additive added to perform the same function I think it was MTBE, now it is gone for the same reason. My '52 TO30 has 6.5/1 compression and the old mechanic who worked for the H.Ferguson dealership here says the unleaded gas is similar to what was used then. He also advised me of the money issue that Paul speaks of should something happen. I've been using unleaded for 13yrs now and my engine still purrs like it should. That's my experience.
