Saw the JD D photo and read the "linked" post.

Talked to Nancy after lunch and reminded her to answer glennster's post.

About a year ago we drove somewhere near Denton, TX and looked at a JD 37D, but it was in much better shape than glennster's barn find.

Got the 37D going with a pullstart and it ran really good.

Drove it around the fellows pasture checking out the gears, steering, unusual noices, etc.

Old tractor ran out of gas and could not get it started again.

Said his buddy knew exactly how to get it started; trouble was his buddy could not be located.

Needless to say we didn't bring it home.

We're getting real "selective" on what we bring home; running out of tractor storage.

Minimum requirements are that I can get the tractor started and it loads on the equipment trailer under it's own power.

On the bright side, the insurance adjuster called me last week to discuss the damaged tractor shed.

Turns out that since we have a "hobby farm" all the out buildings are covered with our policy.

Nancy and I took a day off last Friday and met with the insurance adjuster.

He took a few photos, measured the length and width of the shed, and promised us a check by this Friday.

Meanwhile we're building a new equipment shed back in the woods; figured in a couple of extra stalls for future tractor aquisitions.

Will post a few photos at a later date.

Once it is completed, we will move tractors that "were running when they were parked" under the new shed.

The other tractors will be moved once we start dismantling the collapsed tractor shed.

Y'all are always welcome to come visit any time; just give us notice so we can alert the local law enforcement about our Illinois guests.

There are still laws on the books in Texas for hanging suspected cattle rustlers and horse theives; can't be too careful!

We're taking vacation on the farm starting March 15th through March 19th.

Since March 19th will be our 22nd wedding anniversary, y'all can gift wrap the horses and cow for Nancy.

Sorry for the long post; hope y'all didn't get a headache reading so much.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Journey to Ankeny - by Cindy Ladage. We left Illinois on the first day of July and headed north and west for Ankeny, Iowa. Minus two kids, we traveled light with only the youngest in tow. As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny ... [Read Article]
