I'm sure you're aware, but the biggest difference is that the 505 makes 5ft bales and the 530 makes 6ft bales.
I would recommend going with the 530. In my opinion, the Vermeer baler that is on par with a JD 530 or 535 is the 605K. I wouldn't put the I or J series in the same category. Then again I haven't owned any of these balers, so I may be wrong. That's just what I've gathered. My next baler will probably be a JD 535 or a Vermeer 605K.
