It might depend on the year. My 2001 7.3 Owner's Guide Supplement lists max CGWR at 20,000# and max conventional /class IV trailer wt. at 10,000# for all F-250 and F-350 series whether single RW or duel RW, with 3.73 or 4.10 axle ratio. Later models may be different. ("Fifth wheel trailer maximum weights can be calculated by subtraction the GVW from the GCWR"). I have had no trouble with the automatic transmission, whatsoever. My 5th wheel RV weighs close to 12,000 when fully loaded.
