The Hiniker 1300 model was roll over protected and the 900 model Hiniker was not. The Year a Round Qt-1 is also protected because there was a law suit between the two companies over copying each other in cab design. I know this first hand because I worked 8 years in R&D at Hiniker Co. I participated in the testing of the cab for certification. We mounted it on a 1466 IHC and ran ropes for steering out the back. attached a small cable to the fuel shut off on the pump so we could kill it imediatly upon roll-over so as not to hurt engine. We took it down to a hillside where some contractor had dug out some clay to do the testing. You would be surprised how hard it is to roll a tractor when you want to. First we were going to roll it on its side but it would not crawl up the bank. It kept vereing off and following the bank. Took three tries before it rolled. Oh buy the way we had built a protective structure around the radiator. We rolled it on both sides and then over backwords. The cab held up perfect with only a little bend to the corners of the roof. No damage to the tractor at all. We then put a new roof on the cab and took off the grill gaurd and used that tractor on the farm for many years. The tractor was real trouble free but I never thought That 1466 pulled very good compared to the 4430 JD. Maybe just the way we had it set up. I don't know.

My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
