Belarus tractors have one of those Love-Hate relationships with owners. Some swear by them, others at them. What seems to be the biggest problems with them is whether or not the selling dealer totally went over the tractor before intial sale. They come from the factory with muy problemas!! They are definitely not a tractor for a week-end warrior. They are also not very well suited to being on a one tractor farm, unless you do not need them when you think you need them. Yes,they leak oil,and ocassionally break down, but what doesn't. If you are mechanically inclined they are fairly easy to wrench on. I know of quite a few who use them as second or third tractors and love them for their price. Belarus are a bit quirky at first to understand, but can be learned. The name Belarus is actually a marketing name. The tractors sold today are made in several different plants(VTZ,MTZ,LTZ)at one time before the fall of the Iron Curtain Belarus claimed to sell around 300,000 tractors per year(MF the #1 selling brand world wide is in the 100,000 range yearly)
