Those big belts that run from the engine or tractor belt pulley to the driven pulley of the sawmill, thresher, or whatever was referred to as the "drive belt" and was usually a big endless rubber-canvas multiply flat belt capable of transmitting a whole lot of power. These belts were always pretty expensive and were well taken care of.
