My question to you is this---it asks about the person or persons living there on April 1. If you are in an accident and in the hospital you will be counted there. So----why are you folk filling out the census before you know where you will be in April 1? Might be on vacation and away from home, etc.
States they won't give any information to any law enforcement agency or tax collection agency. It doesn't say however that they won't give the information to INS, Homeland Security, CIA, or other. I'm sure we're all sweating that though. Ha.
Census records are indeed a valuable tool for genealogy and I have certainly used my share of them. They are also riddled with flawed information but are still very much a tool to find the info elsewhere.
The fine for failure to complete the form is much different then giving false information. I think I can handle $100 if I don't care to fill in all of the questions.
