In 65 I was stationed at Pt. Mugu in California. Most everyone knew that I had a young family in SE AZ. (Bisbee). Whenever a plane was worked on and had to go on the compass rose, it always had to be taken on a test flight to check that all the instruments were working properly. Being as I was on flight status, I was always invited to be part of the crew. The flight always went to Bisbee Douglas airport which was a B-25 training base during WWII and about 8 miles from the Mexican border. When we got to about 150 mi. from the airport, the pilot would call my parents and they would take my wife and 2 yr old daughter to visit with me . They would also call a Taxi to take the rest of the crew to Mexico to load up on booze. The plane was A little heavier on th return flight and my moral was a lot better.

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
